In what is being regarded as a tragic incident, a 28-year-old gentleman, working solo at the time, lost his life tragically whilst in the process of emptying a rubbish bin. The misfortune occurred due to entrapment in a lift apparatus and he was tragically compressed within the rear portion of the waste collection vehicle around 10 in the morning.
This mournful event marks the 44th confirmed fatality in the workplace for the year 2024, down from 71 work-related deaths recorded around this time in the previous year.
