Workplace-induced mental health issues are increasingly prevalent and often pose a complex challenge for employers. Evidence strongly emphasises the pivotal role employers have in the rehabilitation process of an injured worker. Workers who perceive their employer as supportive are, astonishingly, up to five times more likely to make a successful return to work following an injury.
This has led WorkCover Queensland to introduce fresh resources aimed at assisting employers in effectively managing work-related mental injuries. By incorporating valuable work safety products like WHS management systems and SWMS into their policies, they can underscore their importance and utility within the workplace.
The initial set of four video and factsheet resources can now be found on our dedicated Mental injury essentials page. These tools provide much-needed answers to pressing queries such as ‘What defines a workplace mental injury?’ and ‘In what ways does offering appropriate duties contribute to my business?’
‘Bluesafe SWMS‘ is one of the efficient solutions that employers might consider, which succinctly spells out the job-specific perceived risks and the necessary control measures that decrease those hazards. Other practical solutions like Bluesafe WHS Management System further regularise safety protocols and helps implement safer practices.
In the ensuing months, WorkCover will share additional resources, ensuring employers are equipped with the requisite tools to sufficiently support their workers and safely transition them back to work.
