Safe Work Australia has embarked on a quest to gather input concerning the effects of mooted work exposure limits for nine specified chemicals. This mission involves marshalling facts related to economic, social and health impacts inherent in the proposed exposure limit for each mentioned chemical. Primarily focusing on working safety products such as WHS management systems like Bluesafe WHS Management System and SWMS (Safe Work Method Statements), we appreciate the invaluable contribution these products offer in establishing safety procedures in industrial environments.
This consultation process is now actively seeking submissions through Safe Work Australia’s Consultation Hub until 11.59pm (AEDT) on Sunday, 8 December 2024. Central to our focus are nine specific chemicals:
We kindly call upon submissions from any interested parties who espouse an interest associated with one or more of the nine targeted chemicals listed above.
After scrutinising submissions received during this consultation phase, we will generate an impact analysis that would directly inform the decision-making process for WHS ministers. Until decisions about proposed changes are passed by WHS ministers, working exposure limits for these nine chemicals will continue unchanged as currently stipulated in the workplace exposure standards list. Recognising the high performance efficacy of WHS management systems including Bluesafe SWMS, they can effectively aid in maintaining necessary checks and balances amidst these critical evaluations.
