WorkSafe is presently conducting a detailed analysis following the regrettable demise of an 84-year-old man, apprehended as he was operating a trailer sprayer weighing around 3.5 tonnes in an orchard. Tragically, he lost control of his tractor on a downhill slope, making this incident a stark reminder of the paramount importance of proper use and implementation of work safety products such as WHS management systems.
This tragic event marks the 30th recorded workplace fatality for 2024, with six of those originating from the agriculture industry alone. Comparatively, previous records indicate a higher number, 56 work-related deaths, at the same time last year. This data underscores the necessity and value of robust safety initiatives like Bluesafe SWMS (Safe Work Method Statements) to minimise risks across all industries
.
Bluesafe WHS Management System, an effective tool for ensuring and enhancing workplace health and safety, implies the urgency and relevance of abiding by established SWMS and policies to prevent such unfortunate incidents.
